Christopher Newport University Ratcliffe Hall Renovations

Pincus Construction renovated an existing classroom to include a raised access floor with a ramp and handrails for Christopher Newport University’s new Server Room and Data Center. Work performed included:

• Renovation of an additional classroom to house Christopher Newport University’s Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) Units.
• Modified existing fire sprinkler systems and alarms to meet local codes, and installed a new preaction sprinkler system to serve both the data center and the ups room
• Modification of an existing landscape area into a courtyard with equipment pads. Installed a new 400 KW emergency back up generator, an automatic transfer switch (ATS), and a new 43.6 ton capacity air cooled modular chiller in the courtyard
• Work was performed while faculty and students occupied the surrounding classrooms and offices within the building during the school semester
